Jay-Z has filled the O2, the Roundhouse and Wembley Arena. Now Jay-Z is to play the only major venue in the capital where he has not performed, with a special show at Alexandra Palace.
The American hip-hop artist Jay-Z will take to the stage at the north London venue on 4 November in a sign of his apparent love affair with London.
The concert is expected to be an almost instant sell-out, with 9,000 standing-only tickets.
Promoters said they were also expecting “surprise guests” to perform. It follows Jay-Z performance at the Roundhouse last month, for which tickets sold out in 20 seconds.
A spokesman for promoters Live Nation said: “If you missed out on a ticket for the Roundhouse you better be quick in getting one of these when they go on sale on Friday.”
The 39-year-old Brooklyn-born rapper Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter and who is married to pop singer BeyoncĂ© Knowles, 28, was praised for his performance at the Roundhouse in front of 3,500 fans — a far cry from his normal stadium-filling gigs.
