Jay-Z surprised he`s not the biggest VIP

The 2009 World Series Champs the New York Yankees celebrate with a grand parade in New York City. Rapper Jay-Z was spotted on Alex Rodriguez's float. Derek Jeter was on a float and the fans were going crazy in the streets. Office buildings threw out tons of ticker tape out their windows to celebrate the Yankees parade. - Jason Winslow / Splash News. Jay-Z thought he was staying in the best room in one of the world's top hotels - until he met a multi-billionaire Russian oligarch. The rapper, real name Shawn Carter, was a regular guest at Manhattan's posh Four Seasons. And he always assumed he was being given the VIP treatment when he checked in. But then he met Mikhail Prokhorov to discuss investing in a basketball team and he found he still had a long way to go. 'I'd been staying there for 10 years, and I always thought I was at the top level,' Jay-Z said.
'But when I met Prokhorov, they took me up to this extra, extra room that I had never even heard of before. Now there's something else to shoot for. There's always an extra level you don't know about.'
Jay-Z has invested in the Brooklyn-based New York Nets basketball team, which Prokhorov, 45, has recently bought. The Russian is said to have a fortune of $13.4 billion.
Forty-year-old Jay-Z, meanwhile, is said to have had a net worth of about $150 million in 2009. Buy Jay Z Tickets & Sell Jay Z Tickets through YourTicketMarket.com. One stop shop to catch your favouite event. Guaranteed, Fast and Secure!

The Bottom Line on American Gangster

Thanks to the potent tracks and instrumentally dense production, American Gangster ranks among Jay-Z top 5 albums. But it's hardly perfect. You'll have to weave through two introductory tracks, marred by corny spoken-word vocals, to get to the first great record. Then, it immediately plunders tail-first into mediocrity with the next song, a badly placed Lil' Wayne collaboration dubbed "Hello Brooklyn 2.0." Weezy's off-kilter crooning leaves nothing be desired, and the song sticks out like a sore thumb.

Jay-Z - American Gangster

Jay-Z has been slinging heroin-laced rhymes since '96, so what makes American Gangster, the musical companion piece to Ridley Scott's drug tale of the same name, any different? More importantly, why is this album such an epochal event to everyone, including the Jiggaman himself?

Besides the obvious fact that Jay-Z music is as addictive as the substance he rhymes about, everything from pulling the album off iTunes to handing out lyric sheets to critics shows how much this album means to Jay. Here's an artist who, though well established as an epitome of success, is still concerned with how his art is consumed.

Jay-Z Concert At Alexandra Palace November 4, 2009

Jay-Z has filled the O2, the Roundhouse and Wembley Arena. Now Jay-Z is to play the only major venue in the capital where he has not performed, with a special show at Alexandra Palace.

The American hip-hop artist Jay-Z will take to the stage at the north London venue on 4 November in a sign of his apparent love affair with London.

The concert is expected to be an almost instant sell-out, with 9,000 standing-only tickets.

Promoters said they were also expecting “surprise guests” to perform. It follows Jay-Z performance at the Roundhouse last month, for which tickets sold out in 20 seconds.

A spokesman for promoters Live Nation said: “If you missed out on a ticket for the Roundhouse you better be quick in getting one of these when they go on sale on Friday.”

The 39-year-old Brooklyn-born rapper Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter and who is married to pop singer Beyoncé Knowles, 28, was praised for his performance at the Roundhouse in front of 3,500 fans — a far cry from his normal stadium-filling gigs.

Jay-Z Defends Kanye West On BBC Radio Show Interview

In case you thought we were finished beating the dead horse that is discussing Kanye West's stunt at the MTV Video Music Awards, you thought wrong!

During an interview for BBC Radio, Beyonce's husband, Jay-Z, gave his two cents on the situation. Without defending West's actions--which he describes as "rude"¬--the rapper Jay-Z claims that the backlash in the media has been "a bit blown out" of proportion.

Jay-Z says, "I think it was rude, but the way they're treating [Kanye]...He's on the cover of every paper. He didn't kill anybody. No one got harmed."

The hip-hop mogul Jay-Z explains, "At the end of the day, we're gonna celebrate him for his passion more than vilify him. As he grows and matures, he has to balance that."

Well said. I'm starting to think that maybe Beyonce and Jay Z should take Kanye in as their foster child. I have a feeling they could straighten him out.
